On March 19 leading up to the Australian Band Championships in Launceston, SCYB put on a public performance of their repertoire at the Caloundra RSL. This was enjoyed by many and it was a great opportunity for those who could not travel to Tasmania to hear the band play their winning program.
April was, and always continues to be one of the band’s most busy months due to having the Australian Band Championships, and the band’s annual ANZAC Day Dawn Service and march program.
In June the band played a combined concert for the public with the Oriana Youth Choir at the Nambour Salvation Army Church. It’s great to see a combination of different talent and youth all in one performance!
July was also a busy year, containing two more competitions that the band and many of its members participated in, and a combined workshop at Mountain Creek High School. At the start of the month Sunshine Brass held their annual Festival of Brass, an exciting two days of adjudicated solos, ensembles, and graded brass band competitions! Later in the month up in Brisbane, the Queensland Solo and Ensemble Competition was in full swing.
Queensland State Band Championships was held in Redcliffe during September, where the band performed amazingly.
In December SCYB played at the annual Twin Waters Christmas Carols at the Twin Waters Novotel.
